Children’s Pool in La Jolla

The Children’s Pool in La Jolla was originally a small alcove of beach designed to harness gentler waves ideal for smaller swimmers. In the decades since, it has become a safe place for many other swimming species, including sea lions and harbor seals! While there’s currently a debate over who should get pool privileges – humans or seals – both still share the space. However, rather than swimming alongside these fantastic sea critters, it’s recommended that human visitors come to enjoy watching the sea lions and taking in the incredible ocean views.

Birch Aquarium

Birch Aquarium gives visitors of all ages a closer look at some of Southern California’s extraordinary marine life and beyond. Inside, you can take in the incredible sights of seadragons, seahorses, playful penguins, and colorful coral. Outdoors, you can explore Tide Pool Plaza, making incredible discoveries as you touch friendly sea stars, sea urchins, and anemones. Throughout your visit, you’ll also learn what you can do to help protect our beautiful oceans and the critters that call them home!

The New Children’s Museum

The New Children’s Museum is a place that sparks creativity, inspires exploration, and instills a sense of belonging through hands-on art experiences. With various bold and engaging art installations and opportunities to meet and work with artists, it’s a place where young artists can genuinely feel inspired. Their hands-on art studios allow kids to build and create for themselves, hopefully creating a lifelong love and appreciation for art.
