Our Experience at Leport Montessori
I won’t leave you wondering, we absolutely loved our experience at Leport Montessori. If we lived closer to one of their locations, we would have our kids attend as long as possible. My son has attended locations both in Orange County and San Diego – both were incredible experiences. If you are interested in sending your child to a Montessori school, I definitely recommend Leport Montessori! Read along to hear what we liked about the school.
Why I chose a montessori preschool
Even before I had kids, I always knew I wanted to send my future children to a Montessori school. I attended one as a kid and I really connected with the way of learning and their philosophy. Everything about it aligned with the style of parenting I wanted to have. If you’re not familiar with Montessori style teaching, to sum it up “Montessori is an education philosophy and practice that fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development, with a goal of nurturing each child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding, and respect.” Especially at the younger ages, I think Montessori is a great introduction to school for kids.
Leport Montessori Preschool
Our experience at Leport only lasted through the preschool ages. But they do go up to grade school, and also have an infant program. My son first attended at around 18 months. What really won me over in the beginning was how caring and involved the teachers were. I wasn’t worried for a moment that my son wasn’t being cared for or treated badly. All of the teachers at his school were extremely sweet, it felt safe. I was very impressed with their classrooms and all the different learning opportunities were around available for my son.
As the months went on, we were completely amazed with what our son was learning at school. The biggest thing was the sense of self responsibility. My son would return home and knew to put his shoes and other belongings away, he knew to throw away his trash and he cleaned up his plate from the table after he was done eating. It was so impressive to see!
A sense of comfort and involvement
We have attended other preschools since moving on from Leport Montessori, but one thing I will always miss is the daily reporting I received from my son’s school. No other schools we’ve attended have done this. Every day the teacher would send me a note of what my son learned that day and what he enjoyed playing with. This was so especially helpful to me as a parent because I got a glimpse of what he was doing and how I could best support this at home. The teacher was always very helpful in answering my questions on how I can help him in his development. I especially learned so much from these childcare professionals.
Leport Montessori Builds a community
Another impressive quality that I loved at Leport was the sense of community they built. The school would often put together school wide events for parents and students. It was very clear that it was a priority for them to make an environment of learning, inclusivity and understanding among all types of cultures. I especially loved this and enjoyed these events as a family.
