Riveropolis

2300 Expedition Way, San Diego, California 92037

Riveropolis is another outdoor exhibit that is always a hit for toddlers at the Birch Aquarium! This area essentially gives kids a firsthand look at how water connects and flows. Your child will be able to build a boat of their own before sending it down the river. It’s the perfect way to engage their sense of creativity while helping them discover something brand new about the world around them!

Beyster Family Little Blue Penguins

Did you know Birch Aquarium features the smallest penguins in the entire world in an exhibit? The Beyster Family Little Blue Penguins is a 2,900 square foot exhibit where you get to check out the ways these adorable critters live. You can watch them swim through the clear blue water or make their home in the burrows. The aquarium also features daily 10 AM feedings where you can watch them splash around while they enjoy a meal!

Blue Beach

Blue Beach is an area nestled right alongside Riveropolis, making it easy to pair these exhibits together. This 4,500 square foot area features a floor mural that pays homage to the underwater canyons of La Jolla Shores. Your child can play outdoor games and build on the Imagination Playground while you sit back and relax on the provided seating.

When it comes to seeing all the actual fish and other critters that live under the surface, Living Seas is a must! This Birch Aquarium exhibit stars the sea creatures that make their home in the Pacific Ocean. You can watch a Giant Pacific Octopus as it snakes across the water before watching the jellyfish put on a show unlike any other! This area also features displays that show you all the conservation efforts the aquarium is making to preserve endangered species.
