Preparing to propose can be such a nerve-wracking experience. You already spent months sweating over designing the perfect ring. Now, it’s time to find the place where you can finally pop the question. First of all, congrats! This is such a major moment, and I know it’s going to be an absolute dream. If you could use a little help ensuring that, however, I have you covered. As a San Diego wedding photographer, I adore getting to be there to help document this event. If you are looking for where to propose in San Diego, here are the spots I always recommend!
San Diego, California
Balboa Park is such a great San Diego spot to propose because it gives you the chance to either plan every second or let the moment be a little spontaneous. With romantic restaurants, lush gardens, and numerous attractions, you’ll have no shortage of spots. You can go for a stroll with your partner and find the perfect backdrop for the moment!
1100 Coast Blvd, La Jolla, California 92037
If you are looking for the best San Diego area view of the ocean, I don’t think you can go wrong when you propose at Cliffs of La Jolla! This small beach has become a favorite for its picture-perfect views and impressive visibility. Because it is a nature reserve, it can be pretty restrictive. If you want your pup to be a part of your day, you might need to find another location.
12600 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, California 92037
Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve offers 2,000 acres without a bad site to be seen! This area is gorgeous any time of day, but the sunset carries a type of magic you just can’t find anywhere else. With accessible paths and breathtaking views, it’s one of my favorite proposal spots.
8650 Kennel Way, La Jolla, California 92037
If you want to get as close to the water as possible while still staying dry in San Diego, Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier is your spot to propose! This research site gives you some of the best views of the ocean. If you would like access, you will need to chat with the center and plan a tour. Trust me, though, this spot is worth it!
590 Coast S. Blvd, La Jolla, California 92037
Cuvier Mini Park is a dog-friendly spot to propose that looks over the water just outside San Diego. The grassy field next to the beach makes this a favorite spot for micro-weddings and elopements. You will also be next to some cliffs and sandy outlooks if you want a photo session afterwards!
Ladera St, San Diego, California
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park gives you 68 acres of premium views! The location is dog-friendly with parking lots next to some of the best views in the area. For those who want the best view, there is a staircase that puts you above the city, offering a great spot to watch the sunset with your soon-to-be-spouse!
