San Diego Photo Locations

Spring sessions are honestly such a hidden gem. Most people think of fall for photos, but spring in San Diego has its own kind of magic. Softer colors, fresh greens, surprise flower blooms, and beaches that aren’t quite as busy yet.

These are the four locations I’m offering for spring mini sessions this season. I picked these locations because they’re beautiful, flexible, and photograph so well for families, couples, and kids.

La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove is one of those places that never disappoints. It’s iconic San Diego all packed into one spot.

What makes it extra special right now is the Sea Lavender blooming along the cliffs. The color is so pretty this time of year. For mini sessions here, we can split our time by starting up by the flowers, then head down toward the beach for a totally different look.

I love this location because it gives us so much variety in a short session, which is perfect for minis.

Encinitas Field

This field in Encinitas is currently full of purple, white, and yellow wildflowers and it is so pretty right now. Wide open, colorful, and very springy.

Wildflower spots are always unpredictable and never last long which makes them feel extra special when they show up. If you’ve ever wanted photos with flowers but didn’t want a super manicured garden look, this is a great option. It feels natural and open and relaxed.

Definitely one of those “get it while it’s here” locations.

Coronado Beach

Coronado Beach is just a classic. It’s one of the most loved beaches in San Diego and it photographs beautifully year-round.

The shoreline is clean and open, the light is gorgeous, and people always love the sand dunes with the greenery on them, they add so much texture to photos.

If you want something timeless and easy and beautiful, Coronado is always a stunning choice.

Del Mar

Del Mar is another go-to spot and people especially love it for the cliffs. The bluff views add so much depth and interest, and we can usually get a nice mix of cliffside and shoreline looks without a long walk.

It’s relaxed, scenic, and consistently beautiful. Which makes it perfect for minis when we want a guaranteed good backdrop and smooth experience.
