Visiting Coronado soon and wondering how to best spend your time? I’ve put together a list of some amazing activities for the whole family to enjoy! Whether you’re visiting from out of town or even if you’re a local, I hope this list will help you make some amazing memories with your family while visiting Coronado Island!
You don’t think of Coronado without thinking of the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado. Lucky for families, this beautiful high end hotel is a really really great spot for kids. They have tons of kid friendly activities throughout the year including ice skating outside and renting fire pits on the beach to roast smores! Hotel Del Coronado also offers themed brunches for kids on the weekends for special holidays. It’s an amazing memory maker and parents will love it just as much!
Something awesome about Coronado Island is that its very flat and walkable. Every street is scenic too! I love walking around the quaint neighborhoods and seeing the beautifully designed and sometimes historic houses. Be sure to check out the Baby Del and read up on his history. My son always says its the castle house, you absolutely have to check it out! One favorite memory of mine is renting bikes with my husband and riding around the island. Its such a simple activity but just absolutely perfect on Coronado! A spot I recommend renting from is Wheel Fun Rentals. Its right on the main street and easy to find. They have a large variety of different rentals depending what adventure you’re into!
There is nothing better to finish your day off with an ice cream sundae for the whole family to split. One of the most iconic and memorable places on Coronado Island is MooTime Creamery. I recommend everyone visit this spot because it is SO good. Their ice cream quality is top notch and I love the 50’s diner vibe the creamery has. Try their unique, handcrafted local flavors! The hardest part of this place is deciding which combination of sundae you’ll order!
I know what you’re thinking, obviously you’re going to stop by the beautiful white sand beach of Coronado that overlooks Point Loma. Maybe you’ll even have your Top Gun moment. (Did you know they filmed scenes from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ on this beach?
But Coronado beach is extra special! Certain times of year you can actually see a half buried ship right there in the sand. There’s some really interesting history there, you’ll definitely want to check it out! I also love walking the beach here because you can always find some amazing seashells to collect. The waves are typically very calm at this beach so you’ll feel safe letting your kids play and run around by you!
I really, really love Coronado and I hope you enjoy yourself while visiting. There are so many fun and historic places all around and it’s a beautiful place to be! Your family will have so much fun visiting the island!
Coronado happens to be my favorite beach for family photos, it’s absolutely beautiful! If you’d like to book a family session with me, feel free to reach out to get on my calendar before I book up for the year!
